It’s official. Two new iPhones unveiled, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. The former is a much powerful device. The latter is said to be less expensive. It’s just amazing how a lot of information leaked about these phones are almost spot on, to say the least.
The new iPhone 5s sports a new 64-bit A7 processor. That means it’s twice faster than its predecessor. Expect a better user experience when running memory-intensive applications such as games. It will run on another much-talked about mobile operating system, the iOS7 and supports the LTE network. What’s cool about the iPhone 5s is that it will have an 8-megapixel camera with a larger sensor and new dual-tone flash. The larger sensor promises better images even when on low-light condition. The dual-tone flash is said to make photos look natural because it fires up a warm and cold flash simultaneously. The camera can now also shoot in burst mode with the ability to take action shots. This is a good promise for mobile photography.
Another new feature for Apple’s latest premium phone is the fingerprint sensor on the Home button. It’s a good alternative for unlocking the device by entering the passcode lock. I’m just not sure how fast it will be, especially with greasy thumb, hehe. What were not changed are the size, the 4-inch display, resolution (1136×640 pixels) and storage options (16GB, 32GB and 64GB).
The new smartphone will be available on September 20th, initially in Australia, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and United Kingdom. In the US, the 16GB 5s will be offered with a two-year contract for $199, the 32GB for $299 and lastly $399 for the 64GB option.
The other phone unveiled at Apple’s event was the iPhone 5c. The device is available in light blue, green, grey, peach and yellow polycarbonate body. The inside is strengthened by a steel frame that also serves as an antenna. The “budget” smartphone is powered by an A6 dual-core 1.3Ghz processor. It basically is the iPhone 5 in colors. It’s interesting to note that when you visit Apple’s website, the comparison chart has the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 4s. After searching further, I discovered that the iPhone 5 will be no longer be offered. At first glance though, the 5c looks very plasticky, and it’s not good for me. It’ll probably look different when I get a hands-on experience of it. Available in 16GB and 32GB storage option, the phone is priced at $99 and $199, respectively under a two-year contract. Check out the video made by Apple.
When will the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c arrive in the Philippines? Some bloggers say it’ll probably be available in December. We’ll keep you updated as we get the information, especially the pricing. Which of the two new iPhones unveiled do you like better? I personally like the 5s variant in silver. That is, should I decide to buy one. 😉
