Cake Buffet at Goldilocks National Cake Day

Goldilocks National Cake Day

I have a sweet tooth and one of the food that I enjoy is cake. That’s why I immediately agreed to an invite at Goldilocks National Cake Day. After all, how can I resist the cake-all-you-can experience? The first-ever Goldilocks cake buffet was held at SM City Manila on a Saturday, November 26th. Goldilocks has been making cakes for 50 years and has delighted Filipinos of every age. I remember having Goldilocks cakes on my birthday as a kid. Ever evolving to meet the consumers’ changing needs, the bake shop has tons of cakes, pastries and other desserts to offer. From the classic favorites like Chocolate and Butter cakes to the more special Black Forest and Brazo de Mercedes, Goldilocks has been on top of their cake game. Goldilocks National Cake Day is part of the company’s 50th Birthday Celebration. Guests were treated to all the classic and premium Goldilocks ...

A Peek into The 16th Grand Wine Experience

A Peek into the 16th Grand Wine Experience

I was at the Wine Museum last week for Wine Wednesdays – a wine tasting event that gave us a peek into The 16th Grand Wine Experience happening on November 4th at the Marriott Hotel Resorts World Manila. The event was a collection of firsts for me. It was my first time at the Wine Museum in Pasay City; a first to experience wine tasting; and the first to drink as many alcoholic beverages in one night. The many first was surprisingly delightful to say the least. You see I’m not really into alcoholic beverages. As a matter of fact, I started drinking beer when I was already working and in my mid-twenties, and only prefer “light.” I did try others but I didn’t like them at all. At one point, during an office Christmas gathering, one of our bosses poured me a glass hard drink. Despite hesitation, I was ...

Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition Launched

Pinoy Bread and Ingredients

I attended the Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition press launch on July 19 held at Max’s Restaurant in Quezon City. During the launch, I realized that we do have a vibrant food culture. With 7,107 islands with 81 provinces in 18 regions, the Philippines is as varied as we can get. And this is very much true about food, including bread. Although we’re a rice-eating bunch, bread has been part of our daily lives. From one place to another, you’ll see bakeries selling bread in all shapes and sizes. There’s Pandesal, Monay, and my favorite Pan de Coco. Perfect for snacking, you’ll likely find one anywhere, but they all differ in size, taste and even manner of cooking. Bread is a universal favorite that has countless versions lining panaderia shelves across all corners of the Philippines. I realized that aside from history, socio-cultural practices, cooking methods, and traditions, it’s ...
