In its mission to provide a positive impact to the community, Shakey’s has partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to promote the #AyokoNgPlastik Movement. Last August 8, 2019, a total of 131 volunteers from Shakey’s and WWF headed over to Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) for a Coastal Clean-up.
Taking part in the activity was Shakey’s President and CEO, Vicente L. Gregorio, who reminded everyone that “you have a mission to the community and you are always empowered to help clean and conserve the environment.” The team was able to collect 214 sacks or 1,515 kilos of waste items from the shores of Freedom Island, with plastics on top of the list.
More than just a casual dining restaurant, Shakey’s is committed to engaging in environmental causes that will help improve quality of life. In line with its “Love The Planet Like You Love Our Pizza” campaign, the organization’s goal is to be plastic neutral by 2020.
With eyes to the future, Shakey’s hopes that it will be more than just a store that provides great times and great memories. With its steps in helping the environment, Shakey’s also looks at sharing with the community a great planet.
