Even before the birth of the internet, the Global Filipino already exists. You find them working all over the world, taking on labor-intensive work or pushing pencils. Now, Filipinos have become truly global as international influencers who are globally competitive and relevant through the years. From different industries such as tech, fashion, automotive, and cinema, Filipinos are making rounds in the international scene.
There’s a brand new show aptly titled The Global Filipino is set to air on GMA 7 starting July 30 at 12:01 midnight. The show produced by Team MMPI is all about inspiring Filipino viewers by telling the life stories of world-class Filipinos. Spearheading the show is lifestyle connoisseur, host and businessman Stefano de Medici who traveled to the US, Europe and the Middle East to meet and talk with Filipino geniuses all over the world.
“The show is really all about showing the world how determined, hardworking and talented Filipinos are”, says Marnie Manicad, the show’s director. “I also think it is important that this show will be presented by someone like Stefano who understands the value of globalization in today’s society”.
The Global Filipino will be on the timeslot of Kuya Germ’s iconic show, Master Showman: Walang Tulugan. Working on the show’s production is Team MMPI – the same crew behind innovative program concepts showing on different local and international channels such as Turbo Zone, Home Base, The Working Class, Agripreneur, FoodTrip on Starworld, Soundtrip on E! under NBC Universal and TriPinas – the country’s hottest travel show which airs on GMA News TV, also hosted by Stefano de Medici with Solenn Heusaff.
Team MMPI also prides itself in its international and award-winning productions including the Emmy-nominated National Geographic documentary Inside Malacañang, the Patrick Bergin-Dingdong Dantes movie Dance of the Steel Bars based on Cebu’s famous dancing inmates, and 2 Degrees: Panahon Na – a climate change documentary that earned a special citation at the Catholic Mass Media Awards in 2016.
2GO Travel is the show’s co-presenter. 2GO is the biggest shipping and logistics enterprise in the country, cornering the lion’s share of marine passenger conveyance in the Philippines. Filmed in the United States, Europe and the Middle East, The Global Filipino, is directed by Marnie Manicad and co-directed by young and talented filmmakers Charmaine Salvador and Van Bomediano. Catch it every Sunday at 12:01 midnight, starting July 30.
