Red Baron Ribs and Steaks – New Foodie Discovery

Herb Crusted Heavy Porterhouse (Php1,959) at Red Baron Ribs and Steaks

Foodies love to discover new places to hang out and enjoy good food. One of my latest discovery is Red Baron Ribs and Steaks located at the corner of D. Tuazon and Calamba Streets, it’s small and is out of the way. But this hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Quezon City is an ideal place when you don’t want it crowded and still get to enjoy delicious food. Through the OpenRice community, I was invited to a food tasting. The thought of meat and more meat beckons and so I gleefully agreed to join. I’m not familiar with the area, although I know D. Tuazon is near Manila as I always passes by it when on a jeepney plying the Cubao-Taft Avenue route via E. Rodriguez Sr. I decided to take a cab instead. With the help of Waze, I was able to easily get to Red Baron. The place is surrounded by ...

Tapeo The Fort Strip a la carte Offerings

Recently, I discovered Tapeo The Fort Strip a la carte offerings and more. I consider the restaurant as Bonifacio Global City’s hidden gem as the restaurant is not very visible. But they offer good food in a cozy Spanish ambiance that I love. Established by MonDay Chefs — chef-consultants Mon Urbano and Day Salonga, in February 2013, Tapeo is known for bite-sized appetizers that are usually paired with wine. I have to admit that the moment I got the invitation, I was thinking of pigging out on dishes revolving around our very own tapa, cured beef prepared in different ways. I was so wrong because I experienced Spanish dishes. I’m not complaining. In fact, I love it! I love the learning experience as I was educated that there actually is a tapas tradition in Spain which, according to the legend, can be traced back in the 13th century during the ...

Madison’s Bistro Moderne – The Finer Things in Life

Dishes at Madison's Bistro Moderne

Dining at Madison’s Bistro Moderne is one of the finer things in life that I got to enjoy recently. The restaurant in a fine-dining category is now open. Located at the ground floor of One Garden Way in Shangri-La Plaza, just a few steps away from EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, this is one dining destination that foodies with discriminating taste will surely frequent. Madison’s Bistro Moderne was jam-packed during the grand opening in the evening of April 23rd. By the looks of it, the place was filled with the metro’s finest ready to wine and dine til the wee hours of the morning. As we squeezed our way into the restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat. The Place Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by the bar with a selection of wines and spirit up on the wall. A few steps more and there’s the dining area. Similar to ...

A Taste of Western European Dishes at Ginger Cafe Bistro

A few weeks ago I experienced a taste of Western European dishes at Ginger Café Bistro. This newly opened restaurant is located in Clarkfield, Angeles City. Yep, that’s a long drive away from Manila. But should you decide to dine at Ginger Café Bistro, especially when you’re on a trip and is in the area, you won’t be disappointed. Don’t be misled. Although the restaurant’s street sign says Ginger’s Coffee & Deli, this is actually Ginger’s Cafe Bistro. Read on for my restaurant and food review. Hip Ambiance Upon entry, I noticed the hip ambiance of the restaurant. It has a modern feel to it and can be intimidating because of its posh look. It’s small, making every dining experience intimate. I love the large photos hanging on the wall, the wooden chairs and tables, the placemats, and the couch in one corner. They all complement each other, giving off ...

A Power Place for a Power Lunch – Chops Chicago Steakhouse

Chops Chicago Steakhouse USDA Prime Black Angus Dry Aged

Business meetings over lunch or dinner is common to executives. There are various reasons to this kind of meeting. But whether to gain a guest’s or guests’ favor, to celebrate success or to simply chit chat, it’s always held at a high-caliber restaurant. Expensive but good food with nice ambiance and a sense of exclusivity are notable of these places. I recently discovered a similar place, a power place for a power lunch – Chops Chicago Steakhouse.Located at the 4th Level of Greenbelt 5 in Makati, the steakhouse is sort of hidden from the crowd. The topmost floor of the mall is not where most of the shops located, hence, not much foot traffic. That’s a good thing for customers who wants privacy in a meeting. Entering the restaurant, one can tell that this is not your ordinary place to dine. Nice ambiance, very business-like, expensive even. I love the ...

Have a Break at Dimsum Break

Steamed Dimum at Dimsum Break SM City North Edsa Annex

When roaming the city and you found yourself at SM City North Edsa, you can have a break at Dimsum Break. This newly opened restaurant at the 3rd level of The Annex is actually the first branch in Metro Manila, boasting a good track record in Cebu. I was privilege to have attended the media launch a few weeks ago where I learned that this quick-service restaurant actually traces its roots from Cebu. Launched in 1996, Dimsum Break already has a strong following at the Queen City of South and some friends who’s been to Cebu testifies to this fact. The restaurant executives were present at the event who shared that they have long wanted to expand in Metro Manila. It was only recently that they found confidence that they can withstand the competition. As they say, the proof in the pudding is the eating and had the chance to ...
