I was never lured to try Bingsu, the Korean dessert that is making a buzz in the metro. But then I got the chance to try Snowbing Bingsu treats at SM North Edsa. It’s a good thing that I’m a blogger because if not, it’s likely that I won’t be heading over to any restaurant just to give it a try. But Snowbing made me realized I should have tried it even before.
For the uninitiated (makes me sound like an expert, haha), Bingsu or bingsoo is a Korean dessert. It’s in a huge bowl with ice shavings as the base, topped with different ingredients depending on your preference. It could either be fruits, cereal flakes, mochi, beans, cakes, syrup, ice cream or frozen yogurt, cream, milk, etc.
The moment I settled down inside Snowbing, I was asked to order a bingsu already. I quickly obliged because I’m feeling the hot summer day already. I went for the Tropical Fruit Bingsu. It has kiwi, watermelon balls, grapes, and melon balls over a bowl of ice shavings with milk and whipped cream on top.
Tropical Fruit Bingsu (Php168)
I was delighted as soon as I dig in to my Snowbing Bingsu treat. I know one of the things that people rave about this dessert is that the ice shavings are fine and melts in your mouth. That lived up to my expectation. And I love my dessert because it’s really light, refreshing, and not too sweet. Such a great choice as I was apparently about to eat more than just this treat.
Salted Egg Pasta (Php198)
In the middle of my dessert, other foods started to come in. Yes, there are Snowbing Bingsu treats and more at this Korean Dessert Cafe. There’s the Salted Egg Pasta which I enjoyed. It’s like a carbonara with it’s creamy taste balanced by the saltiness of the bacon.
Honey Butter Toast (Php188)
I also got to try Honey Butter Toast which is perfect with my pasta and dessert. When you bite into it you’re immediately greeted with the sweetness, but it’s not overpowering. I switch between my other foods and enjoyed the play of flavors.
Choco Brownie Bingsu (Php188)
The other Snowbing dishes that I got to try are Choco Brownie Bingsu, Korean Pasta, and Korean Pizza. You can basically have your main eating here and then segue into snacking. I was surprised that this small space can serve a lot to its customers.
Korean Pasta (Php198)
I fell in love with the Choco Brownie Bingsu. It’s perfect for chocolate lovers. It can be quite heavy because of the chocolates, syrup and all, but it’s another delightful dessert that I’d go back for at Snowbing.
Korean Pizza (Php198)
The Korean Pasta has the flavor profile of a Yakisoba, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s quite salty for me though. If they can tone it down a notch or two, I’d have it again. Meanwhile, the pizza with meant and mushroom toppings has a sweeter profile.
Cheezy Mango Bingsu (Php168)
The other Snowbing Bingsu Treats that other bloggers ordered are Cheezy Mango, Pat Bingsu, Salted Caramel, and Matcha Green Tea Bingsu. The Chezy Mango got really good feedback from those who ordered it. I forgot to ask the rest about their desserts, sorry.
Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to discover Snowbing Bingsu Teats and more. It is for me, and I’ll definitely be back for the other treats. Oh men, I’m craving as I write this blog. Visit Snowbing at SM North Edsa, located at the main mall near National Bookstore. You can also visit their second branch at Trinoma.
