The SM Hypermarket “Best Pinoy Street Food” Grand Winner is Angelica Libed of Aling Mila’s Food Delivery and Catering. Representing SM Hypermarket Valenzuela, she bested 9 aspirants in an epic cook-off held at SM City Sucat in Paranaque on November 30. Kusina Master Chef Boy Logro tested their cooking skills and was joined by a crowd of some 100 people to judge their food.

Group 3 preparing food at the Best Pinoy Street Food 2015These cooks vied for the 2015 Best Pinoy Street Food championship in hope to take home a life-changing prize which includes a free food stall at SM Hypermarket for one year. The winner also received P100,000 pesos worth of prizes including large food packs, ingredients, cooking equipment and more courtesy of SM Hypermarket’s Food Service Center.

Chef Boy Logro doing a cooking demo at the Best Pinoy Street Food 2015On each round, Chef Boy Logro assigned a food for them to cook. They were initially given a freehand on how to cook and the audience gets to taste them all. I got the event and had the chance to witness their cooking of Spaghetti. Some remained faithful, while others gave it a fresh take. The audience were asked to cast a vote based on how delicious the food was. The Top 4 Grand Finalists were:

  • Raymond Sombilon of Mangkuk Ilonggo representing sa SM Hypermarket Sucat
  • Angelica Bonifacio of Inbisito Eatery representing SM Hypermarket FTI
  • Erlinda B. Franco of Madam’s Eatery representing SM Hypermarket Cainta
  • Angelica Libed of Aling Mila’s Food Delivery and Catering representing SM Hypermarket Valenzuela

The Judges at the Best Pinoy Street Food 2015In the end, Angelica Libed ruled and was declared the “Best Pinoy Street Food” grand winner. It’s interesting to note that SM Hypermarket decided to highlight Pinoy street food in this competition. This is the kind of food that most Filipinos enjoy eating anytime of the day. Judging from how the winner showcased her cooking, she will definitely find success in her new stall at SM Hypermarket.
