Filipino Dishes with a Twist at Oriang by Cafe de Bonifacio

Oriang Super Fried Rice (215Php) - Oriang by Cafe de Bonifacio

Looking for a new place to dine out? I recommend Oriang by Cafe de Bonifacio where you’ll find Filipino dishes with a twist. Located at Fiesta Market in Taguig’s Market! Market!, the restaurant opened only last month. The team of restauranteurs led by Vic and Alfredo Wenceslao decided to put up a unique concept that still treads the path of Andres Bonifacio, naming it after the wife of the father of the Philippine Revolution – Gregoria de Jesus, also known as Aling Oriang. I love the place. It’s huge an airy. Oriang is also well-lit because of the front glass panel that allows the natural light to come in. The design is modern, yet not the “in your face” kind of thing that other restaurants would want it. The ambiance lends a welcoming vibe, not the intimidating kind. While we wait for other bloggers to arrive, we ordered some drinks. ...

Chef Robby Goco and his Italian Porchetta Takes on the Food Truck Challenge

Italian Porchetta

Everybody loves good food. And now, more than ever, good food is all over the metro and has become more affordable than it used to be. Thanks to the kitchen masters, the chefs, who has become a part of the regular dining scene in the country. There was a time when I only see them on fine dining restaurants, the pages of the magazines or on television. That’s no longer the case and I had the chance to meet some of them. Recently, I was at Cyma Restaurant Shangrila where I met Chef Robby Goco who is set to take on the Food Truck Challenge with his Italian Porchetta at the Manila Food and Wine Festival 2013 on February 22nd. Chef Robby will present his take on Porchetta, usually referred to as the “Italian roast pork lechon” – made of savory, fatty, and moist boneless pork roast of Italian culinary ...

These colors along with the rest of the Urbanears collection are now available at the Urbanears Concept Store at the Podium and other retailers nationwide. NEW COLORS Petrol – Less green and decidedly more gray than its aquamarine buddy Teal, Petrol is a rich, saturated shade of blue that’s more reminiscent of peacocks than the type of petrol you buy at the station. Whatever your association, Petrol is always versatile, adding a bit of full-bodied color without ever being too loud or showy. Olive – No matter what your taste buds say, this yellowish-green shade feels remarkably fresh this time of year. Its soft, warm tones go with just about everything, making it an appetizing addition to your headphone collection. We’re always on Team Olive. Coral – Feel the tropical vibe with ...

Rizzini Alexis Gomez getting treatment at Zen Institute

How do you create a masterpiece, one that is a hallmark of beauty, elegance and sophistication? Take Rizzini Alexis Gomez, the reigning 2012 Miss Tourism International, for example. This 22-year-old, 5 feet 10 inch statuesque stunner, a Cum Laude nursing graduate from the University of Cebu and now a registered nurse, was no overnight sensation. Her beauty and confidence were the result of hard work, determination, will to succeed, building of confidence, and lots of prayers. For Rizzini, joining beauty contests is no walk in the park. Though she failed to win in previous competitions that she joined, she eventually won the Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism 2012 crown (where she also bagged Best in Swimsuit) and earned for herself a ticket to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia for the Miss Tourism International. But even after she won Mutya ng Pilipinas, she immediately buckled down to work. When preparing for major beauty ...

The Clawing Continues at ClawDaddy Robinsons Magnolia

ClawDaddy Restaurant

I have been to ClawDaddy Restaurants’ other branches and was quite familiar with their American dishes which I always enjoyed. I looked forward to having the same experience when I recently visited ClawDaddy Robinsons Magnolia. One thing I noticed with every ClawDaddy restaurant that I’ve been to is the different vibe, not a cookie cutter look. The Robinsons Magnolia branch has a slightly dim lighting and I like the inverted boat hanging on the ceiling. The chairs are nice too, complementing their all-red walls decorated with frames of various kind. We started with the Classic Gumbo. It’s like a soup, only thicker and strong in flavor. It’s got some rice, okra, meat, bell pepper, etc. It was my first time to taste a Gumbo dish and I liked it; I know I could finish off a bowl of this dish.  Fried Fisherman’s Platter came along, with Shrimp Fry, Crispy Calamari, ...
