Get Up to Get Up and Help Others Get Up

Get up! You may think I’m asking you to stand up or arise from where you are now. But if we’re on the 80s, you’ll probably assume I’m referring to one’s attire, especially when asked “What’s your get up?”. This phrase takes on another meaning at the GET UP Blogger Launch by Golden ABC, held at the Museum Cafe in Greenbelt 4, Makati last August 25th. In summary, the event encourages us to get up to get up to help others get up. That’s a mouthful. Let me explain. Golden ABC, the Philippine fashion pioneer behind the brands Penshoppe, Oxygen, ForMe, Memo and Regatta, launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative dubbed “GET UP.” Corporate social responsibility is one of the company’s values and they have been involved in supporting education, community building, environment and arts & culture through various organizations. Through the GET UP program, the fashion retail brand ...

NIVEA Philippines Launches NIVEA for Men Multi-Effect 8 Products

Growing in a female-dominated family, I learned to used skin care products at an early age. Astringent was one of those I applied on my face which became frequent in my adolescence in an attempt to eliminate pimples. In those days, all skin care products are marketed for women. It was only recently that we are seeing the growth of products for men. Last week, NIVEA Philippines introduced their line of products with the Multi-Effect 8 benefits to a group of bloggers. I have been using the brand’s facial wash and lotion. I was partial to their whitening variant for that extra SPF protection, plus the hope of regaining the fairness that I possess in my younger days (I wish). Last August 23rd, I joined other bloggers for the NIVEA for Men Multi-Effect 8 Challenge at the 360 Fitness Center in Makati. The event included a glimpse to the gym’s circuit ...

Morning Motto: Dealings On Life Everyday – Be Actively Nixing All Negativity Always

We all face different situations everyday. Sometimes they’re pleasant. Sometimes they’re not. There were times when you wished you stayed all day on your bed instead. But life can really treat you unfairly and there’s nothing you can do but face it. Maintaining a positive attitude can help greatly. It may sound a cliche but that’s the truth. Unfortunately, there are lots of negative things or people that can affect your mood no matter how positive you are. That can add to the challenge. How do I cope with it? By making sure I reject all forms of negativity. This has been my mindset ever since I became aware how negative things and people affect my way of coping with life. I have to admit that I have contributed a certain level of negativity to people and situations. I have the right to express my frustration or whatever bad things ...

Knowing Your Stuff

Multiply Media Launch

Running an online business doesn’t mean I am always in front of my computer. From time to time, I get to interact with people face to face. Aside from meeting customers who prefer to get their bags through meet up, there are those who would also want to check our products personally before ordering or making a purchase. These customers are very inquisitive. They ask a lot of questions. When I was just starting out, I have to rely on quick thinking to be able to respond to every questions thrown at me. I have been doing the business for almost three years now, so I know my stuff. This allows me to answer all questions with confidence. Confidence can get you through any situation. And to achieve that, you really have to prepare, no matter how experienced or knowledgeable you are in any situation. But there are instances when ...

Cowboys & Aliens: A Story of Greed, Kindheartedness, Revenge & Unity

Last August 10, I watched Cowboys & Aliens courtesy of Nuffnang Philippines and Pizza Hut. It was one of my most anticipated event having heard some buzz about the movie. I’m also a Harrison Ford fan — not having seen him on the big screen for quite sometime, this would be a good opportunity to watch one of my favorite Hollywood actors on the big screen. There I was seated among fellow bloggers enjoying the story of greed, kindheartedness, revenge and unity in a western-sci fi movie. Contrary to my impression of the movie, this is actually a Daniel Craig movie more than Ford’s. Although they shared a few scenes throughout the movie, James Bond has more screen time than Indiana Jones. I’m not complaining. It’s just that the movie sought to capitalize on Harrison Ford’s popularity and downplayed Daniel Craig’s. I love the movie from start to finish. Just ...

I May Never Eat Chicken Barbeque For a Long Time

Mang Inasal has been raffling off two Asus Eee Pad Transformers everyday since August 1st. Dubbed the Grand Gadget Giveaway, the promo runs until August 31. As they say, the more entries you send, the more chances of winning. And this is why I may never eat chicken barbeque for a long time when August ends. I love being mobile and connected most of the time. I have an online business, but aside from having the facility to check my online shop for orders and inquiries, I just love surfing the net. This is why I often bring my laptop with me almost everywhere I go. When mobile phones became web-enabled, I was one among my peers to have embraced the technology. Now that tablet computers are slowly gaining ground, I am seriously considering one. My tablet of choice is the Apple iPad. Aside from being a fan of everything Apple, the ...

Give a Child a Nice Smile

photo courtesy of Corbis A smile brightens up your face, making you more attractive. Smiling or to be smiled at makes you feel better even when you’re in a bad mood. Now you can give one to a child through Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation, Philippines Inc. (NCFPI). Join the Miles for Smiles 2011 – Run for Cleft Care race on September 18, 2011 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig at 5AM. Being a Nuffnang Blogger is the Hottest Thing since Food Deliveries

Delivery service offered by most restaurants is one of the best thing that happened in the food service industry! It’s very convenient, especially during the rainy days or when you’re too busy to cook. But I’ve had my share of experiences where food deliveries failed big time! Erroneous food delivered, late deliveries and worst, no deliveries at all! This is frustrating especially when you’re hungry to death — and there’s nothing you can do about it. Not until I became a blogger where I got to share my experiences about it. Being a blogger empowered me as a consumer. There’s a lot of things going on in the blogosphere right now to promote blogging. One organization pioneering this effort is Nuffnang. Nuffnang is the first blog advertising community in Asia Pacific. It helped in bridging the gap between big business and bloggers not only in advertising but in creating awareness ...

Chef For a Moment at MIHCA

I enjoy cooking which I learned from my mom who is a good cook herself. She would ask me to cut ingredients — first were onions, garlic and tomatoes, then I graduated to meat and vegetables. When I was grown enough to handle the kitchen heat, I was tasked to fry and then eventually cooked soupy dishes. So when the invite came from a culinary school, I grabbed the chance. It was one great experience to be a chef for a moment. The Magsaysay Center for Hospitality & Culinary Arts (MIHCA) held its media event dubbed “Restropective: The MIHCA Open House“, last July 29th at the their Makati facility. There I met fellow bloggers, members of the media and the academe. The institution is located at the 5th floor of Waltermart Mall in Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. This was the 2nd branch, the other located in Manila. At a glance, ...

Experienced Love In Mang Inasal’s Media and Bloggers’ Night

I Love Mang Inasal

It was an enjoyable night at the T.E.A.T.R.I.N.O. in Greenhills’ Promenade for the very first Mang Inasal Media and Bloggers’ Night on the first day of August. It was the launching of the leading quick-service restaurant’s newest campaign dubbed “I <3 Mang Inasal” — a look back into the reasons why we Filipinos have fallen in love with this brand, and a look forward to the bigger things to come. I was fortunate to receive an invite along with bloggers friends where we were treated to delicious food, drinks and great music intertwined with fun games and raffles. But the event was more than that. It was also to announce more reasons to love Mang Inasal: The Mang Aawit Project, the Grand Gadget Giveaway and the 400th store opening at the Vmall Carpark in Greenhills on August 5. The Mang Aawit Project is an advocacy to original Pilipino music. Acknowledging ...
