Fast-rising artist Edward Benosa is definitely getting noticed with his performances. This time, the PMPC Star Awards for Music has nominated Edward’s music video Puso Kong Ito to this year’s Best Music Video category. The other artists nominated in the same category are Juris, Sam Concepcion, Vice Ganda and Rivermaya. It can be recalled that the artist won the Best New Male Recording Artist from Star Awards in 2015.
“Puso Kong Ito” is Edward’s third and latest single, lifted from his self-titled album Edward Benosa. I got to watched the video directed by Indie Filmmaker Carlo Obispo and I really enjoyed it. I love the storytelling and of course, the casts’ acting – Edward Benosa, Abigail Oliveiro, Mark Sumaylo and RK Bagatsing.
I also enjoyed the scenery that served more than just a backdrop to the video. The images actually enhanced the video further and I can’t help but admire everything I see. Obispo’s experience in high-quality film making is very much evident. The music video Puso Kong Ito looked like a short film instead of just an ordinary music clip. Watch the entire video below to know what I’m talking about.
The music video features a charming ballet dancer from Ballet Manila, Abigail Oliveiro and projects Ed’s boy-next-door charm. But the casts’ acting chops cannot be discounted. Edward Benosa showed different emotions here and looked very natural. I’m not surprised as he’s been involved in theater acting. I’ve seen him perform in Chuva Choo Choo alongside theater veterans and he was able to hold his own.
As a matter of fact, the artist is currently rehearsing for a musical he will be part of, called “Mula Sa Buwan,” slated to be staged in Ateneo University grounds this December. Edward shared that the song “Puso Kong Ito” is one of his favorite songs he’s recorded “because I feel there’s something unique about it.”
Performing in theater requires a different discipline and being tapped to be part of such musical means Edward is on the right track. He shared that he wants to take on acting on television and the movies and it looks like that will soon come to pass. His next step taking in acting jobs to see what he can do as an actor. He is set to appear in a film titled Bubog wherein he will play a policeman. As for music, aside from the music video Puso Kong Ito, Edward is set to release his second album by February next year.
The StarStruck and The Voice hopeful is now taking a lot of strides in his career despite not being able to fulfill his dreams on reality TV. From his debut hit “Di Man Lang Nagpaalam” which gave him a grand entrance of sort, he has taken a foothold in the industry. As a matter of fact, an official Facebook group account nicely named Ed Benosa Loyal Supporters already exists.
Last April, Edward delivered a 25th birthday concert for his fans at the Teatrino in Greenhills. That show was a proof he certainly deserved the Best New Male Recording Artist citation from Star Awards in 2015. The concert was called “Most Requested” in reference to his hit first single “Di Man Lang Nagpaalam”. He has been an in-demand act since. His versions of Carol Banawa’s “Stay” and The Script’s “Breakeven” showcase his versatility as a singer, one of his strengths.
His feat is such an inspiration for dreamers. And big thanks Edward’s manager and collaborator, actor Arnold Reyes, who saw the potential in him. In referring to his talent, Arnold directly stated, “I took him in kasi grabe ang vocal range niya. May puso siya kumanta, very emotional.”
Edward has good words for the kind of great support he gets from fans and friends, “Ang sarap ng pakiramdam when you have supporters who truly care about you because they like you and your songs.” The music video Puso Kong Ito by Edward Benosa is made possible by Dannon Clothing. Edward’s steady rise to the top is largely a doing of his deep passion and care for audiences.
