Just when I thought I saw the tablet of my choice, I learned that GALAPAD 7-inch Tegra Quadcore tablet is now in the Philippines. This powerful tablet has been doing rounds on the Internet at the latter part of 2012. It has been hailed as a contender to Google Nexus 7 as far as power is concerned.

One major thing I noticed is that this brand proudly boasts that it’s powered with a 1.3 Ghz Nvidia Tegra 3 Quadcore. But aside from the processor, the rest of the specs are quite impressive as well. The tablet runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has a 7-inch IPS capacitive touch panel with a 1024×600 pixel screen display, a 1GB RAM and an 8GB ROM expandable up to 32GB. With the IPS panel, it means that you get to enjoy the same quality of viewing at any angle. It’s good that the memory is quite decent, letting users download more apps on the device.

The GALAPAD also features a 2MP front-facing camera, Bluetooth, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, Gyroscope (3-axis), Accelerometer, Compass, Proximity Sensor.

I don’t see anything revolutionary on the looks department as it basically looks like the rest of the 7-inch tablets in the market. But it looks nice based on the photos I gathered on the web. How much is this gadget you ask? I learned the SRP Php9,999.00. That’s a pretty good price considering the powerful CPU. Hopefully we could borrow a unit so we can take it for a spin and provide a more detailed feedback. But if you can’t wait for that, as I said, the GALAPAD 7-inch Tegra Quadcore Tablet is now in the Philippines and are now sold at Enigma, Accent Micro, Techead SM San Lazaro, Tiongsan Baguio, ClipData, EAsy PC and Asianic. No need to wait. Head over to the stores mentioned and check it out personally.

  1. Guys. Nexus 7 is a lot better. Even Elixir but my friend has this for two months and sold it. He had a nightmare with its performance.

    1. Thank you for sharing your recommendations. Can you enlighten us on your friend’s actual experience with the Galapad? Why was it a nightmare?
