A Unique Dining Place — Isabelo Garden Restaurant

On a rainy Friday evening I headed to the heart of Marikina to join OpenRice.com’s mini-eyeball event dubbed Eats A Date. Having lived in the area for half of my life, I found it interesting that Marikina is now a bustling city with restaurants dotting the road leading to my actual destination. Much more interesting is the fact that a garden restaurant will be the venue of the food tasting event — the Isabelo Garden Restaurant. OpenRice.com is a dining guide website boasting thousands of reviews from its members which has grown into a community. Tracing its roots from Hong Kong, the Philippine counterpart started only last year and is managed by the people behind JobsDB.com.ph and 88DB.com. It is an honor to be chosen and take part in this dining experience. Isabelo Garden Restaurant is quite hidden from the public eye, giving it a mysterious vibe. I took note ...

Close To Heaven – My First Angel’s Pizza Experience

Angel's Pizza - Chicken Aloha

I love pizza! It will always satisfy my tummy with all those toppings. But not all pizzas are made equal. It comes in different shapes, sizes and flavors and as pizza parlors grow, it’s hard to choose which one’s for you. It’s normal to stick to your favorites, but it doesn’t hurt to look the other way. You’ll never know what you’re gonna get. That’s exactly what I did when I had my pizza delivered last night courtesy of Angel’s Pizza — my first ever experience. It was supposed to be a food-tasting event at the City Golf Plaza in Pasig, but then I was told that they’ll have it delivered to my place instead. Who am I to decline? So at 6PM, just as they said, the pizza delivery boy arrived. My cousin hurried at the gate to meet the guy as I was on the phone with a ...

Lee Kum Kee

I was at the Glorietta Activity Center last October 9th where Lee Kum Kee dominated the entire area with booths to showcase their products to the public. It was part of their celebration of making authentic Chinese sauces for 123 years. That

Food Critic for a Day – the Ultimate Taste Test

I experienced becoming a chef for a day at the Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality & Culinary Arts. Last September 3rd, I had the chance to be a food critique at the Ultimate Taste Test by Our Awesome Planet at the Rockwell Tent. A wide selection of food concessionaires were gathered and lined up to showcase their specialties. It was my first time to attend such an event, and I have to say I was overwhelmed not knowing how and where to start. We arrived at past 11am and the venue is already abuzz with people and the media. I was with a fellow blogger – Lakwatsera Mom – and I just followed her cue, moving from one booth to another. Armed with a pen and our “passport” to rate each concessionaire and the food they served. Pastries, finger food, dimsum, drinks, pasta, meats and sausages – they’re all under one ...

Being a Nuffnang Blogger is the Hottest Thing since Food Deliveries

Delivery service offered by most restaurants is one of the best thing that happened in the food service industry! It’s very convenient, especially during the rainy days or when you’re too busy to cook. But I’ve had my share of experiences where food deliveries failed big time! Erroneous food delivered, late deliveries and worst, no deliveries at all! This is frustrating especially when you’re hungry to death — and there’s nothing you can do about it. Not until I became a blogger where I got to share my experiences about it. Being a blogger empowered me as a consumer. There’s a lot of things going on in the blogosphere right now to promote blogging. One organization pioneering this effort is Nuffnang. Nuffnang is the first blog advertising community in Asia Pacific. It helped in bridging the gap between big business and bloggers not only in advertising but in creating awareness ...

Food is Served at Digital Walker

digital walker

Digital Walker is one of my most-trusted gadget retailers in the country. They carry numerous brands of gadgets and accessories and is also an Apple reseller. But I was surprise that they also carry food! At the Digital Walker Cafe. I was there July 1st for the Urbanears product presentation and bloggers event. Aside from receiving bagful of goodies, we were also treated to a delicious dinner. While waiting for the event to start, we took pictures of the place. I was drawn to their glass casing which houses different kinds of cakes. They all look yummy. The food was served after the event allowing everyone to chit chat. There was plenty of time to spare because the Urbanears product presentation didn’t take that long. But with the food they served, the time allowance was just enough. They first served the creamy corn soup. It was delicious, but what I ...

Yoh Froz – Guiltless Pleasure

Yoh Froz

Frozen Yogurt is now a craze, not only in the Philippines, but in the world. In fact, our country has just recently caught on it’s popularity. I’m no stranger to this dairy, but I’m not exactly a fan. I do buy the ones from the grocery made by a popular brand, yet I haven’t had the interest to make an effort and try the ones mushrooming in the market. But came the invite from a fellow blogger, and that’s when I tasted a guiltless pleasure. We decided to visit another blogger who happens to be the franchise owner of Yoh Froz located at the lower ground floor of Shangri-la Plaza just next to the entrance of Rustan’s Supermarket. The place is a clean open space with white tables and chairs. The owner provided wi-fi access, making it perfect for customers to sit and wait around while enjoying the frozen dessert. ...
