Have a Cake and Sip it Too – SIP Cheesecake Tea

Creamy Cheesecake Tea - Sip Milk Tea New Farmers Plaza

Nope, I did not make a mistake. I am aware of the idiomatic expression “Have one’s cake and eat it too” but that’s not what I mean. I’m referring to my latest drink discovery — Cheesecake Tea by SIP Milk Tea. I happen to be at this new tea shop at the 3rd floor of New Farmer’s Plaza in Cubao, Quezon City. The place is quite spacious unlike other stores offering similar drinks. And the line at the order counter is quite long. One that really stood out for me was the Cheesecake Tea and ordered one in mango variety. As I waited at the seating area, I can’t help but notice how busy their staff are, working on the orders. I love the fact that their kitchen area is open for everyone to see. I also love their interior – clean white walls, blue accents and yellow chairs. It’s ...

Affordable Gourmet Food from The Sandwich Guy

Check out the oozing cheese! at The Sandwich Guy - SM The Block

Gourmet sandwiches are usually found in restaurants with a hefty price tag. But with the quality of bread and filling, not to mention the taste, I would end up having them because I know I will be satisfied. There’s one restaurant offering a wide range of gourmet sandwiches at Glorietta. Unfortunately, I no longer see them at their original location. As a matter of fact, I no longer see them in places I’ve been to. Too bad because the food are really delicious. Then came The Sandwich Guy, which I noticed in an open space at SM Megamall. I have been planning to give it a try, but the very open ambiance discourages me. But one Sunday of October, after going to an event at SM The Block, I was so hungry that I found myself ordering food at TSG. The place at SM The Block is relatively bigger than ...

All-Filipino Buffet at Cabalen TriNoMa

my plate - All Filipino Buffet at Cabalen TriNoMa

Despite the many restaurants scattered in the metro offering international cuisine, I can’t help but go back to restaurants offering Filipino dishes. Just like the rest of the Asian region, Filipino food also has a lot of influences, having been colonized by Spain, Japan and America. Not to mention the influences of our neighboring countries, like China, whom our forefathers used to do business with prior to being taken over by foreign countries. While I have to admit that I am no longer aware which food is truly Filipino, I enjoy these dishes. A recent food trip to Cabalen TriNoMa got me enjoying this kind of food as this branch is offering All-Filipino Buffet for only Php298. I got my unlimited drink too for an additional Php40. I remember dining at Cabalen Restaurants several times. If my memory serves me right, the first time was at the Megamall branch back ...

Tour Southeast Asia at Banana Leaf

Banana Leaf TriNoMa

With all the character, flavor and influence of Asian cuisine, I just can’t get enough of it. The color and aroma, as it intertwines with sweet, tangy and spicy flavor is simply irresistible. It’s a testament of the different influences from China, Europe and North America — a tapestry of culture that is very evident, with similarities and yet is unique on its own. I had the opportunity to tour Southeast Asia at Banana Leaf Restaurant as I got to taste the wide range of dishes hailing from the said region. As I entered the restaurant, I noticed how clean and simple the entire place is. I love that it’s well-lit, with big windows that allows the natural light to illuminate the entire place. They also offer al fresco dining which is quite nice because the place is actually at the topmost part of the mall. When everyone got settled, ...

Asian Fusion at the Bonifacio Global City via the Singapore Food Republic by Nasi Lemak

Singapore Food Republic by Nasi Lemak at BGC

If there’s any cuisine that I love in this world, it’s Asian food. I just love the flavor, the character and the spice in every bite. I had the chance to experience a taste of Singapore and the rest of Asia at the Bonifacio Global City — Singapore Food Republic by Nasi Lemak. Despite having frequented the area, The Fort and the entirety of the BGC is such a foreign place for me. So when blogger friend Yani of Yaniconquistadora invited me to join them, I was quite hesitant because I know I will have to figure out how to get there. Then Vance of Ang Takaw Ko decided to tag along as she is also not familiar with the place. That made the challenge extra; not that I don’t want her company. I just don’t want to be primary responsible in making her late because I know I will ...

Baked Fried Chicken at Stackers Burger Cafe

Stackers Burger Cafe Eastwood

I wasn’t able to go out during the long weekend because of the many tasks I had to accomplish at home. After successfully completing all those, I wanted to reward myself with good food. Last Thursday, I found myself at Stackers Burger Cafe in Eastwood City.   It was my first time at this restaurant. As the name suggests, their main offerings are burgers. But what caught my attention was their Baked Fried Chicken, with 80% less oil. I was intrigued; it was the first time that I heard this kind of cooking. I gave it a try and had their 2 pieces variant with fries. They do offer the meal with rice and is also available in one piece meal.   While I wait for my order, I sipped on Strawberry Lemonade Float. It was a perfect cooler on a hot day, with indulgence on the side. When the ...

Subic Got Clawed! ClawDaddy Opens at Harbor Point Mall

ClawDaddy Harbor Point Grand Opening

When the Philippine government converted the former US military base it into a freeport zone, Subic has been a traveler’s destination. With roughly 2-3 hours travel time from Manila, one can enjoy the many attractions it offers. On a rainy Saturday early this August, I found myself in this place once again. I was here several times already. I remember living in one of those basecamp where the American soldiers used to live. I experienced climbing up a 40 feet post in the Subic Extreme Adventure. Then I remembered having awesome dining experiences in restaurants I no longer remember the name. This time I found myself at the Harbor Point Mall, just in time for ClawDaddy‘s Grand Opening. I shared my first ClawDaddy experience before and it was really good. Here’s a chance to experience it again, I said to myself. It was mid-morning and so we decided to have ...

Chinese Dishes by the Dragon Chef

Dragon Chef Hearty and Hip Chinese Cuisine

Chinese cuisine has always been a part if the Filipino culture. Unlike other foreign dishes, we often encounter Chinese foods at home even on regular days. But naturally, these were already cooked the Filipino way. To really experience authentic Chinese cooking, one has to visit a restaurant. I happen to discover one at TriNoMa — Dragon Chef — Hearty and Hip Chinese Cuisine.Located at the 4th Level of TriNoMa in Quezon City, the restaurant is the newest baby of restauranteur Ricky Laudico and Chef Florabel. This is the same group behind SumoSam and RobotoSan and is quite a departure from their other restaurants. Aside from offering Chinese cuisine, the place is also small when compared to their other restaurants that I’ve visited. But that’s actually a good thing because then the service becomes more intimate and the place more quiet. For starters I tried theiri dimsums — Han Gao Shrimp ...
