Later this evening, one international beauty will crowned Miss Earth 2012. Last November 15th, I was able to witness the prestigious beauty pageant’s group 3 evening gown competition at the SMDC Grand Showroom in Pasay City. This is my first time to be surrounded with 27 international beauties and i can’t help but be enthralled at their captivating personalities.
These ladies are beauty queens in their own right. I can’t help but admire God’s creation as I look at each of them. Imagine if they all look alike? That would be boring.
While the delegates walk towards the stage, each of their personal videos are played out for the audience to watch. It serves as an introduction and gives everyone present at the event an idea of what their advocacy is all about. As we know, the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant is not just about beauty, but also in promoting and being involved in the preservation and protection of the environment.
What they shared through their video was interesting and it would be truly amazing if they could continue their advocacy in each country where they came from. Imagine the impact that could lead to? As far as I am aware of, they are already working with their respective governments for this to happen. But it would be awesome if they can pursue their advocacy beyond their reign as beauty queens in their country of origin.
While in the Philippines, the Miss Earth 2012 delegates have been involved in various activities. One of them is in partnership with SM Food Group and SMDC, where these lovely ladies visited different branches of SM Food Group to promote wellness, planting more trees, and bringing SM Greenbags when shopping.
This particular evening gown competition is dubbed A Green Gala, as advocates of nature shone in the evening gowns that each of them personally picked. That’s a far cry from the usual practice of other pageants where Manila’s top fashion designers are summoned to create a dress for each candidate and would end up becoming a promotion of some sort for the gown’s creator, taking away the focus on the business at hand.
From the looks of it, these ladies showed impeccable taste as they wore dresses that complements them perfectly. Of course, I have my favorites. But they all looked regale and queenly as they walked down the seemingly grand staircase of SMDC Grand Showroom towards the stage.
The Miss Earth 2012 Group 3 Evening Gown Competition was judged by SM Executives and Brazilian model-celebrity endorser Daiana Menezes.
Miss Guatemala (Estefany Miranda Garcia) won the Miss Ever Bilena (Best in Long Gown) title with her blue bedazzled dress. Miss Thailand (Waratthaya Wongchayaporn) came close at second and Miss Norway (Nina Fjalestad), came in at third. Will one of these ladies win the title of Miss Earth 2012?
