You can now download the Dolphy Clean Up game on iTunes. I learned about the game featuring the Philippines’ one and only Comedy King during an intimate get together a few weeks ago. At that time, the game app is not yet available for download. But we did get to try the demo and enjoyed it.
Created by iGen Technologies, Dolphy Clean Up is a fun and educational game that highlights environment protection. Throughout the game, the main character is tasked to dispose trash properly, vanish the irresponsible trash thrower, protect the animals and gain points by hitting the coins. There are trivia throughout the games that I find not only interesting, but informative too. Playing Dolphy Clean Up is pretty straight forward even for kids.
We had a chance to talk with Dolphy’s sons – Eric and Ep Quizon – who were present during the event. I was curious why they had to make an app, a game even, featuring their father. Eric Quizon shared that they were approached by the developer who were looking into developing an app for a Philippine icon. And since Dolphy is an icon in the Philippine entertainment industry, they agreed to creating an app. It’s a good project, not only in memory of their dad, but also to introduce Mang Dolphy to the younger generations who don’t know him at all.
The decision to make an app that touches on environmental awareness is the desire to make the game app global in appeal, aligned to Dolphy’s positive image. Dolphy himself, even when he was still alive, has his own foundation, the Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation, Inc. which has supported the poor, particularly in sending deserving youth to school. Downloading the Dolphy Clean Up app is free with the initial stages of the game. Upgrading to the full version unlocks the other levels of the game. Epy Quizon noted that a certain percentage of the download proceeds will be used to help rehabilitate and reconstruct communities in the Visayan region which was recently affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).
Download Dolphy Clean Up game on iTunes now. The game will soon be available for Android-powered devices. Those who wish to donate to help the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda through the American Red Cross may also do so from the app itself. Check out some screenshots of the game.
