Go CarCrazee if You’re Nuts About Cars

Sexy Beetle at SM City Sta Mesa Cyberzone CarCrazee Event

Last December 15, I went to SM City Sta. Mesa to cover the CarCrazee: Nuts About Cars event. It’s a grand car and gadget show aiming to showcase the wide array of custom-made cars, the latest gadgets and the latest app from AppLabs – CarCrazee. Quite simply, go CarCrazee if you’re nuts about cars. Well, who wouldn’t want to go wild and crazy when you see all the cars customized to fit the owner’s lifestyle. Too bad the gathering has yet to heat up as I was early for the main event. But boy did I drool at the sight of the cars already there. Here are two that delighted my eyes. If you have a car and is into a relationship with it, like take photos of it every now and then with or without you and you have your iPhone, better hook up with CarCrazee. it’s a social ...

Kata - Manfrotto - National Geographic - Gitzo

With the advent of technology, particularly in digital photography, it’s easy to take a picture of what’s happening around you. Even the simplest mobile phone now comes equipped with camera. But the serious photographer or photojournalist will find it easy to capture the moment with Kata, Manfrotto, National Geographic and Gitzo products. Early this month I attended the media launch of Vitec Group’s wide range of products under different labels, aimed to serve the needs of consumers and professional photographers. We were presented with bags, apparel and tripods from Manfrotto; bags from Kata and National Geographic; as well as tripods from Gitzo. They all come in different shapes and sizes that will definitely fit one’s lifestyle. I saw some of the collections and already fell in love with some of it from the Manfrotto and National Geographic bags because of the casual look. If ever I have a camera, especially ...

Miss Philippines Janine Tugonon is 2012 Miss Universe 1st Runner Up

Miss Philippines Janine Tugonon

Miss Philippines Janine Tugonon is 2012 Miss Universe 1st runner up as Miss USA brings home the crown for the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world. The 23-year old native of Balanga, Bataan was seen as a contender to the Miss Universe 2012 crown. As I watched the newsfeed on my Facebook account, a lot of people were hopeful that she’d be declared Miss Universe. The glimmer of light became stronger when she eloquently responded to the final Question & Answer portion by saying “Language isn’t the only important thing. As long as you can influence and inspire other people, as long as you have a strong mind, spirit, you can be Miss Universe.” when she was asked “As a global ambassador, do you think speaking English should be a prerequisite to being Miss Universe?.” Miss USA Olivia Culpo was crowned the 2012 Miss Universe. The pageant was held ...

The New Rizal Park

Have you been to Rizal Park, aka Luneta? This is the first park that I’ve been to when we arrived in Manila coming from the province. When I was a kid, this is the go-to place to visit. There were no malls, theme parks and entertainment centers back then. But as years passed by, this park lost its beauty. That’s not the case anymore. I had the chance to pass by the park recently and was surprised how beautiful it is now. It’s like a new park altogether. Of course, the Rizal Monument is still there. Basically, everything that I saw that day was the same stuff — the gardens, monuments, stone garden benches, etc. But they looked new because the entire park is well-maintained. In the evening, everyone gets to enjoy the colorful fountain that rivals the fountain show at the nearby Manila Ocean Park. I enjoyed every bit ...

There’s Still Time for Motorcycle Helmet Validation

Motorcycle Ryders

I was at the SM Megamall last week and saw a section at the mall where people, all of them male, seated on rows of benches. I then realized that there was an ongoing motorcycle helmet validation going on when I saw helmets on display. What is the motorcycle helmet validation all about? This is basically in response to Republic Act No. 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Act, where those not wearing standard protective helmets will be fined P1,500 for the first offense; P3,000 for the second offense; P5,000 for the third offense; and P10,000 as well as confiscation of license for the fourth and succeeding offenses. Having a DTI-certified motorcycle helmet basically ensures that you’re wearing a quality product. Motorcycle riders should secure import commodity clearance (ICC) stickers for their helmets ahead of December 31, as the DTI will not extend the deadline for helmet inspection and ICC marking. ...

Rurouni Kenshin - Samurai X Movie at SM Cinema

The live action film Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) will be shown on Philippine theaters starting December 5 and I’m sure Filipino anime fans will troop to the cinemas to watch it. Here’s a reminder though – the movie will be exclusively shown only at SM Cinema movie theaters as part of their Cinexclusive Series. Produced by Warner Bros. this movie adaptation of the popular anime was released on August 25, 2012 but did not reached our country. I heard that the Filipino fans heard about this and rallied that it be screened in the Philippines. And the rest as they say is history, as it looks like SM Cinema successfully acquired the exclusive right to show the movie in their theaters. I will be watching it on Sunday at SM City North Edsa, so stay tuned for my review. Incidentally, a blogger is giving fans the chance to win tickets ...

Harness the Sun with Solar Power in the Philippines

Solar Panels on ADB Rooftop Installed by Green Heat

The power of the sun can be harnessed with the use of solar power and it’s now available in the Philippines. This is a very timely development since the need to protect the environment is ever increasing, not only in our country, but in the whole world. As a tropical country, we will definitely benefit from solar power technology, not only in terms of minimizing carbon footprint but also in saving money along the way. Using photovoltaic panels or PVs, the system stores the energy from the sun to generate electric power. The electricity can be used in homes and offices to power equipment and/or appliances. Green Heat (GH), a locally-owned company involved in the design, installation, and maintenance of solar PV systems, offers this technology now. The company has the expertise and experience to do the job. Reducing carbon footprint can be done because there’s less amount of fossil ...
