Filipino Bloggers Network Christmas Party 2014

Group Shot - Filipino Bloggers Network Christmas Party 2014

I’ve been blogging for quite sometime now and have been to some organized bloggers group event. It’s a great opportunity to meet blogger friends and meet new ones. Last December 13th, I braved the traffic and the rain just to get to the Filipino Bloggers Network Christmas Party 2014 at the Aluform facilities at Jade Garden, San Juan City. FBN is one of the most active bloggers group in the country, and I’m glad I pushed to attend the event. The Christmas Party was filled with fun games, great food and more importantly, sharing of stories of the fellow online writers. Too bad I missed a lot of the activities. I got to the venue at around 4pm, two hours late. The Filipino Bloggers Network has almost 1400 blogger members at the moment and continue to expand as it provides a venue for bloggers in the Philippines to interact with other ...

Vamos A Malolos – Tracing the Roots of Philippine Republic

Vamos A Malolos. In English, it means “Le’ts go to Malolos” and so I did on the 15th of December, a rainy Monday, along with the rest of the invited media representatives. While on the bus, I was given an introduction of Malolos through the brochure that was distributed to everyone, and through a movie about the women of Malolos playing on DVD as we traverse NLEX. In between, our tour guide would inject information reinforcing what I was just reading, and/or watching. Not to say that I dislike history, it’s just that those bits and pieces I learned in school was somehow lost in my memory. But suddenly, I began to appreciate the stories and history unfolding in my mind. My interest in Malolos grew as we approach our destination. Malolos has a huge part of the Philippine history. During the Spanish colonization, residents participated in the revolution. The ...

Sky Ranch Pampanga Amusement Park Now Open

Sky Ranch Pampanga Ferris Wheel

Sky Ranch Pampanga Amusement Park is now open to the public. I was able to cover the media launch on the last week of November and was able to experience first hand how fun it could be for the whole family. If my memory serves me right, this is the 2nd Sky Ranch amusement park in the country, the first being the one in Tagaytay. I’ve only passed by it the few times I’ve been to the area and never had the chance to explore it. So the invitation to Pampanga was a welcome opportunity. Sky Ranch Pampanga is just beside SM City Pampanga. We left Quezon City after lunch and was at the venue in a little over an hour. We waited for the blessing for the entire theme park to open. After all formalities, we were able to roam the entire place. The theme park in Pampanga is ...

Shrek The Musical Returns for the Holidays

Shrek The Musical Holiday Run

Everyone’s favorite green ogre is back. If you missed him and the rest of the gang, well this your chance to catch them. Shrek The Musical returns for the holidays for a very limited repeat performance from December 26, 2014 to January 4, 2015 at the Meralco Theatre. This is a perfect opportunity to have fun and laugh with friends and families, making your holiday season more merrier and Shrek-tacular! Christmas brings magic to our world. We only see magic on fairytale stories, but Shrek The Musical puts a twist on these stories as we have come to know them. Instead of a knight riding a noble steed, the hero is Shrek, a swamp-dwelling ogre who befriends a wisecracking Donkey. And the Princess? She’s the slightly temperamental and neurotic Fiona. After Shrek rescues Fiona from a dragon-guarded tower, the two fall in love before she reveals there’s more to her ...

MMFF 2014: Kubot The Aswang Chronicles

Kubot The Aswang Chronicles Movie

It’s Christmastime and that means it’s the time for Filipino movies to dominate the cinemas in the Philippines from December 25 onwards. Yes, there’s no stopping the Metro Manila Film Festival 2014. And even though some of us have a not-so-good impression about the movies shown, there’s no denying that there are movies worth watching. I believe one of these movies is Kubot The Aswang Chronicles. With Dingdong Dantes in the lead, the movie picks up where TikTik left off. I have to admit I haven’t watched the first installment, but some blogger friends attest that it was good. Still skeptical? Watch the trailer first. Kubot, the Aswang – I love that “The Aswang Chronicles” presents what’s truly Filipino. Aswang is a Filipino folklore and learning more about it is worth the while. We all know about Kapre and Mananangal, but what do we know about Kubot? Kubot is a ...

The Sangobion Be a Lifesaver Event

When we think about Christmas, we think about gifts to give and receive to family, friends, colleagues and everyone in between. We’d go around shopping malls, and for the budget conscious, “tiangge” and Divisoria, in search for gift items to buy. But have you ever thought about giving for the greater good at no cost at all? Yes, we can donate to charity but it doesn’t have to cost you money when you donate blood. That’s exactly what happened during the launch of Sangobion Be a Lifesaver project last December 5th. The bloodletting event held at the activity center of SM City Fairview is the fourth and final phase of Sangobion Go Love Life campaign which advocates women to live a better life by making a lifestyle change that results in caring for one’s self. Sangobion is an organic iron supplement (ferrous gluconate), made even better because it has vitamins ...

Krem-Top Calls Out to Change for the Better

Krem-Top Change for Better Campaign

I was one of the bloggers invited to the Krem-Top event on the first week of December in Makati. It was a jam-packed gathering at the Romulo Cafe in Makati, but was an enjoyable one especially being in the company of some blogger friends. But before the event, I was thinking about what the event is all about. Maybe it’s a move to promote Alaska’s coffee creamer further and encourage consumers to switch to the brand. But I’m sure that’s already in their mind, but in actuality, Krem-Top calls out to change for the better in life as one nation. A very timely message as we conclude 2014 and get ready for 2015. The New Year is something that we all look forward to. An opportunity for a clean slate, to rid ourselves from the baggage of the previous year, move forward and be a better person, be a successful ...

Giordano Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Giordano Circus Party Fashion Show Finale

Leading clothing brand Giordano celebrates 25th anniversary in the Philippines with a fashion show and a concert with a circus theme. I had the opportunity to have witnessed the fashion show and some performances but had missed the concert led by music icon and Giordano ambassador Rico Blanco. I had to leave early because of a very early commitment the following day. Despite omitting the concert, I did enjoy the start of Giordano Circus 25th Anniversary Party at the Eastwood Mall Open Park. Around the venue, there are booths where guests can play classic circus games such as Basket Toss, Something Fishy, Tumble Me and Ring O’ Bottle, among others. There were also a fortune-telling booth and mechanical bull riding. Guests also enjoyed performances by classic circus characters such as clowns, mimes, stilt walkers, magicians, lion man, uni-cyclists, and many more. I didn’t get to explore most of the circus ...
