Earlier on Facebook today, I read that TMZ received information that an American Idol favorite got the lowest vote and the producers are scrambling to convince the judges to save the contestant. There were hints that Fil-American-Mexican Jessica Sanchez is the person who’ll likely leave the show. A little later, news broke out that she was saved. Check out what happened as she sung for her life.
The judges walked to the stage to stop her sing. I think this was the first time that this happened. Jennifer Lopez took the mic from the petite contestant and declared that Jessica is not going home. This was a very timely situation since the judges save will expire next week. By the looks of it, Jessica looked confused. The night before, she received praises for her rendition of Jazmine Sullivan’s Stuttering.
Indeed, the results are confusing. How can one of the best singers in the competition, praised every time she sings, got thumbs up from a number of artists, including former AI contestants, be eliminated? But this is not surprising really. Remember Pia Toscano? How about James Durbin? These Season 10 contestants were bringing it but they were also eliminated. And I think there were even more before them in the previous seasons of this singing competition. It was a good thing that Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler didn’t use their powers on previous eliminations.
The 16-year old contestant even showed versatility in the show by singing ballads and up-tempo, proving she can sing anything anything and still deliver the best performance. In my opinion,
